Dolls can be traced in our history as far back as the 1860's. These dolls were dressed in the latest fashions from France and sent to the United States for wealthy women to have their personal dressmakers copy the fashion designs. Since the dolls themselves had glass set-in eyes and fired bisque heads, they were detailed, miniature replicas of people. This was the beginning of the fashion doll.
